1) Loss of tree canopy and green space
Maintaining and adding to our street tree stock should be a priority along with protecting mature heritage-type trees from development.
2) Storm Water Management

Cars and affordability. It feels unsafe when crossing rt 1, east west, Hamilton, Ager, Belcrest, Toledo, Adelphi, and Queens Chapel. While I realize many of these roads are state or county jurisdiction they still cut many of us off from metro, retail, schools, etc. Our sidewalks are too narrow to share with anyone else - when walking home from UTC to the historic district I had to step off the sidewalk onto E- W/410 to allow a family with young children to pass - we should never have to find ourselves in that situation. The sidewalks are not ADA compliant - the telephone poles block many sidewalks, cars often park blocking the sidewalk in the arts district, we have to push a "beg button" to cross the street so if you don't make it to the light to push the button in time, you're stuck waiting an entire light cycle. The affordability of Hyattsville is pushing many people out and controlling who can afford to live here in the future - we need more diversity in our housing stock, we need to make sure that redevelopment favors increased density and affordability rather than low density - that supply meets demand.

(1) Loss of wooded areas throughout the city.
(2) Truly walkable zones, either in parks or in areas with limited car traffic and small stores and kiosks. (Examination of the failure of the UTC will probably show that the area is "unreachable" on foot, being surrounded by major street with high traffic.)
(3) Bike zones physically separated from car traffic.
