Is it a Park or a Playground?

For me, the current design submitted looks more like a playground instead of a park. I think that decision needs to be decided before any plans can be submitted to the community. I would prefer to see the space stay as a park, with upgraded playground equipment off to the side, like it is currently laid out.

I have a few additional points:

1. I love that so many elements are staying, especially those crape myrtles. However, if those pavilions are going to stay, I think they need to get a refresh. If the space is going to get renovated, then those need to be renovated as well.
2. Sometimes, a green space is just okay. I do not like the playground in the center of the Park. I like the look of the play equipment, but I am not a fan of completely taking over that large green space center. In addition, it sounds as though this space was used by all of the community, including the city, for different events. As the community continues to open post Covid, I look forward to those coming back to this space. I don't think it would be possible if there was a giant playground in the center.
3. Do we need another horn/xylophone/worm looking music maker? Seems as though there is a surplus of those in the city. As someone that is only one house away from the park, I would be concerned about noise.
4. To me, by placing a giant playground in the center of the park, it turns this space into a personal recess location for St. Jerome's. I don't think it is fair to take away park space to please St. Jerome's. They have a giant black top, with tons of opportunity to renovate themselves. It shouldn't be on the city/community to give them that space.

Overall, I would be sad to see this space become a Playground instead of remaining a Park. I think green space is important, and these current plans do not support that.
