Church Place Redesign

The City of Hyattsville has been coordinating with the businesses along Church Place to address issues of traffic congestion and loading.

NO PARKING is allowed on Church Place.

Click here for a map of local parking options

Priorities in the redesign include:

  • Clearly designated loading zones that allow trucks to easily ingress and egress
  • Increased signage and roadway markings to stop drivers from double parking and blocking alley access
  • New parking spaces along Gallatin Street
  • Increased signage and roadway markings along Gallatin Street to slow traffic and stop drivers from turning left into the one-way traffic on Church Place
  • The addition of a new public seating area, blocked from traffic by planters and other barriers

All elements in this first phase of the redesign are designed to be temporary so that traffic patterns can be observed and tested before more permanent features (like concrete curbs) are added.

Review the draft plan below.

Map Key:

  • Blue areas indicate painted roadway markings. There is no parking in these areas.
  • The yellow area indicates a new public seating space.
  • The 80' x 10' space marked on Church Place is a designated loading zone. Delivery truck parking only in this area.

Join us for a Community Paint Day!

Help the team from Graham Projects complete the installation of the asphalt art at the intersection of Gallatin Street and Church Place!

Spaces are limited, registration is required. All ages are welcome, but children under 18 must be supervised by an adult. The paint is permanent so wear clothing and shoes you don't mind getting messy!
